Lonchamp 892 and 897. - Barth 30799 and 30780. - Brun II, 398. - First edition, one of the few copies of the de-luxe-edition with the nice aquatint views in an additional colouring. - This work with views, which most surely counts among the nicest works with views of Switzerland of the early 19th century, was originally published in 5 issues, of which the first four under the title Die neue Strassen durch den Kanton Graubündten. Each issue comprised an etched leaf with schematic explanations of the depicted landscapes, additionally with two smaller ll. for plates 7b and 25b, of which only the leaf for 7b is bound in this copy. - The nice plates, engraved after the Swiss painter Johann Jakob Meyer (1787-1858), show streets and passes in the Alps, with picturesque views of valleys and landscapes of the canton Grison, the Lake Como and the Lake Maggiore. - Plates with minor even discolourations, one outline copper foxed in places. Front board with two bumps, rear board with traces of scraping. All in all broad-margined and remarkably clean copy of this fine work with views.
First edition and rare copy of the deluxe edition with additional colouring to the aquatint plates. Probably one of the most beautiful works of the early 19th century with Switzerland views, depticting the picturesque valleys and landscapes of Graubünden, Lago di Como and Lago Maggiore. With engr. title with aquatint vignette printed in colour, 32 aquatint plates printed in colour and finished by hand, 1 coloured aquatint map and 6 (of 7) outline engravings. Contemp. red cardboard in later half calf slipcase. - Plates with only slight and even browning, 1 outl. engraving somewhat foxing. Two bumpmarks to front cover, rear cover somewhat scraped. Overall a fine and remarkably clean copy with broad margins.
