Apophthegmata. Latin vellum manuscriptfrom the early 15th century. 156 ll. Size of sheet ca. 11 : 8 cm. Brown ink, 14-20 lines, rubricated. With 1 schematic drawing. Contemp. calf with blindstamping and 1 brass fitting.
Remarkable and early collection of sentences, in a paperback format. From the collection Thomas Phillipps (no. 12309). - The leaves numbered 1-116 and 140 -188 and presumably written by at least two hands. Contains: excerpts from the bible and register of ther bible's books (ll. 1-103), Regular gladiaturae (regulations for fights and battles; ll. 105-108), calendar (ll. 109-111 recto), continuation of bible excerpts (ll. 111 up to the end). - Mostly somewhat stained, stronger in places. Front board detached, moveable clasps removed.
