The vignettes and tailpieces, about 30 of them, are so attractive that they have often been borrowed to decorate later books." (Raphael) - "An astonishing book with a series of magnificent plates in which the fruits and flowers are almost subordinate to views of gardens ..." (Coll. A. Plesch). - A Continuation was published in 1714. This copy with the appendix (17 pp.) on the obelisk in Constantinople, with the respective folding plate. - Minor foxing and thumbed in places, as well as browned, 5 coppers with brown stains in the margins; half title, title and 2 text ll. with defective corners.
