Magnificent Koran manuscript in Nashki script. The two opening and closing pages each with a broad arabesque decorative border in most delicate execution, also with a total of 5 double pages with tendril borders in gold and red all the way round, 109 pages with illuminated floral devices in the side margins. Text on gilt lines and with bordering lines in gold and colours, also with a narrow bordering line spanning across the double page. Sura headings in blue ink over golden ground with floral devices in the margin. Vocalizations in red, gilt verse separators and blue marginalia. The very well preserved lacquer binding with a large artistic arabesque pattern of small flowers in the centre panel. The inside covers in red with gilt vignette within a decorative frame. - Last page with invocation by another hand (2 lines erased). Slightly browned, slightly stained in places, first and last ll. reinforced in the gutter, opening pages with rebacked defects in the head margin. All in all well-preserved.
