Goethe supposed that the pure sensation of white can be caused on by a simple, uncompounded substance." (DSB V, 445) - Goethes Auffassung von der Einheitlichkeit des weißen Lichtes konnte sich in der Wissenschaft nicht durchsetzen, die psyochologische und physiologische Ausrichtung seiner Betrachtungen beeinflußte jedoch tlw. die Malerei der Romantik (J. W. Turner). - Text unterschiedlich auf grünlichem und beigem Papier gedruckt. 3 Titelbll. etw. stockfleckig, Tafeln in den äußersten Rändern schwach gebräunt.
