Danilowitz pp. 20f. - Saur II, 48. - First edition of Albers' famous color theory, one of the most important artist books of the 20th century. - One or several silkscreens in colors or offsets in colors respectively on a total of 80 double sheets, partly with folding color elements. Albers dedicated this publication to his students: "This book is my thanks to my students". Original edition of this lavishly made and thoroughly edited study book, another edition was released ten years later by the Josef Keller-Verlag, Starnberg. - Spine slightly discolored. - "In this monumental book .. he summarizes his color theory, which has a focus on the psychological aspects of colors. Among others, he explains the Bezold effect, knowledge thereof as well as its artistic application where helpful in the creation of his Homage-to-the-Square paintings." (Saur)
