Prachtvolles und guterhaltenes Missale für das Bistum Konstanz , hrsg. vom dortigen Bischof Johannes Georgius. Durchgeh. in Rot und Schwarz gedruckt und mit zahlr. ornamentalen oder figürlichen Initialen und vielen kl. Textholzschnitten. Zweispaltiger Druck mit dopp. Rahmeneinfassung, Text und Kanonteil auf Pergament (S. 249-264) tls. mit schwarzen Quadratnoten auf 4 roten Linien. Besonders schön die Titelbordüre und die ganzseitigen Holzschnitte mit einer prächtigen Kreuzigungsszene und einer ebenfalls sehr eindrucksvollen Bestrafung Davids. - Der zweite Teil enthält den Commune Sanctorum. Angebunden am Ende: Supplementum missalis Romani et festorum dioecesi Basileensi proprium . 40 S. (Kempten um 1850). - Erste Bll. seitl. mit Braunfleck, zweite Hälfte stellenw. etw. wasserrandig, Kanonteil und wenige Bll. etw. fingerfleckig, 6 Bll. am Ende mit Eckabschnitt (Textverlust, von alter Hd. ergänzt), wenige Bll. ferner mit alt hinterl. Randläsuren, Titel am Rand mit alten Besitzvermerken (tls. durchgestrichen). RDeckel mit Kratzspur, Gelenke und Kanten tls. leicht berieben. Insgesamt guterhaltenes, überwieg. sauberes Exemplar.

Finely printed and lavishly embellished missal for Constance, the Canon (pp. 249-264) printed on vellum. With 2 fig. woodcut borders, 2 full-page woodcuts (among them the canon cut on vellum), 2 woodcut coat-of-arms (rep.), numerous small woodcuts in text and woodcut initials as well as woodcut printer's device at end. Contemp. darkbrown morocco over strong wooden boards richly blindstamped, 2 brass clasps and gauffered gilt edges. - First leaves with brownstain at side, partly some waterstaining in the second half, some fingerstaining to Canon and few further leaves, 6 leaves at end with cut-out corner (loss of text, supplied by old hand), few leaves with backed marg. defects, early inscriptions at margins of title (the upper crossed out). Rear board with trace of scratching, edges partly with slight rubbing. Altogether well-preserved, inside mostly clean copy.
