Most lavishly made and printed advertising brochure from the Berlin printshop Otto Elsner (Oranienstraße). Published on occasion of the company's 33rd anniversary, "we dedicated this work to our friends and for the sake of winning new sponsors.." (transl. from introduction). Introduction and company history followed by 12 strong cardboard ll., most with mounted illustrated advertising leaflets etc., printed in multicolor, among them: cover: plastic with black print after a line etched hand drawing, antiqua by Prof. Behrens. - 'Imperator auf See. Empfehlungsdruckwerk für Schiffahrtsgesellschaften' (part). Image decoration after line etched hand drawings, antiqua by Prof. Ehmcke. - 'Hapag Amerika-Reisen'. Leaflet with images in multicolor print. - 'Werbedruckblatt für Erzeugnisse der Kunst und Mode'. Gravure printing. - Leaflet with shipping envelope for large technica companies. Deffke (1887-1950) worked in the studio of Peter Behrens in 1909-10 and was art director of the Otto Elsner printshop from 1912 to 14 . He "belonged to the avant-garde of 'New Typography' and was creator of a modern typ of factory- and trademark" (Saur XXV, 181). - Binding foxed, front board somewhat bowed.
