Eine frühe Zusammstellung der wichtigen Quellenwerke zu Byzanz und der islamischen Welt, hier zum ersten Mal mit umfangreichem Material zur Türkei. Die Sammlung enthält Schriften von Laonicus Chalcocondylas (Historiarum de origine ac rebus gestis Turcorum libri X ), Gregoras Nicephorus (Historiae Byzantinae libri XI ), Johannes Zonaras (Annalium tomi tres ) und Nicetas Acominatus Choniates (Historia ), herausgegeben wurde sie von Hieronymus Wolf. - "Fourth collected edition, but the first with the Turkish material. Collected editions of Zonaras and the other Byzantine historians are known from 1567, when the first collected edition appeared under the title Corpus Universae Historiae, praesertim Byzantinae , known familiarly as the Historia Byzantina" (Blackmer).

Folio. 35,5 : 24 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit großem Wappenholzschnitt von Nidhard Thungen auf dem Dedikationsblatt sowie Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Ende. - KOLLATION: 4 nn. Bll., 297 num. Bll., 44 nn. Bll. - ZUSTAND: Tls. etwas stockfl., nur zu Beginn mit Wurmspuren (minim. Buchstabenverlust), 5 Bll. mit Randläsuren, Einbd. etw. wurmstichig und leicht geworfen, Schließbänder tlw. entfernt. Insges. gutes ansprechendes Exemplar; Titel in Rot und Schwarz gedruckt. - PROVENIENZ: Titel mit hs. Besitzeintrag der Straubinger Kapuziner sowie verso mit altem Stempel ("Ausgeschieden") der Bayr. Staatsbibliothek.

Important compilation of early texts on the Islamic world. With heraldic woodcut and woodcut printer's device. Contemp. vellum. - Some slight worming affecting the first leaves, here and there foxed, 5 leaves with marginal damages, title vo. stamped, title with ownership entry of Straubinger Capuchin. Binding somewhat wormed and bowed, ties partly removed. Else well-preserved copy.
