"One of the most famous and easily recognized maps of America, and one that is both functional as well as decorative." (Burden) - Spätes Exemplar der ersten Ausgabe, das hier schon den zweiten Druckzustand (von 3) mit der korrigierten Benennung der Azoren von Canariae insulae zu Las Açores aufweist. "This is the state more commonly found" (B.). Altkoloriert und auf kräftigem Bütten gedruckt, umseitig mit lateinischem Text.

- ZUSTAND: Leicht gebräunt, linker weißer Rand mit Quetschfalte, rechter Rand mit schmalem Wasserrand, Mittelfalte nahezu durchtrennt und hinterlegt, sowie mit zwei kleinen Fehlstellen rechts der Mittelfalte. Obere rechte Ecke mit 2 kleinen Einrissen.

Late copy of the first edition of this famous continental map of North and South America, in 2nd state (of 3) with the Acores correctly labelled. In contemporary colors and printed on strong laid paper with Latin text on verso. - Slightly tanned, left white margin with printer' crease, right white margin slightly waterstained, centrefold nearly split in two and rebacked, with 2 small rebacked defective spots to the right, upper right corner with 2 small marginal tears. - 1 addition (map of Africa).
