Erste in allen Einzelteilen vollständige Gesamtausgabe.
Enthält die Werke Galileis meist in den Restbogen der Erst- bzw. Zweitausgaben der Einzeldrucke, daher größtenteils mit eigener Paginierung (genaue Kollation bei Cinti). Vollständige Ausgaben mit allen bei Cinti beschriebenen Teilen sind selten, weil der Käufer die einzelnen Schriften selbst zusammenstellte und je nach Interesse das eine oder andere Werk ausließ. Vorliegendes Exemplar stimmt mit Cinti in allen Teilen überein, es gibt nur kleine Abweichungen im Vor- und Nachspann: Band I enthält 3 Bll. weniger als bei Cinti vermerkt; Bd. II enthält 2 Blatt weniger. Der berühmte Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistermi del mondo von 1632 stand bis 1822 auf dem Index und wurde erst in der Gesamtausgabe Padua 1744 mit aufgenommen.

Fehlstellen. - PROVENIENZ: Besitzeintrag des Mediziniers Robert Gray, dat 1686. - Vord. Innendeckel mit Besitzeintrag Lars Herbert Olsson (1894-1976). - Seitdem in schwedischem Privatbesitz.

First collected edition, complete in all its individual parts. 2 vols. With folding copperplate and numerous woodcuts in text. contemp. calf, spine old renewed. Copies with all parts listed by Cinti are very rare, because the first buyer arranged the selection of parts as he desired. Partly slightly browned. Both book blocks, spines and joints broken, 1 front cover detached from book block, binding rubbed and bumped, end of spines with small defects. Our copy contains all the parts listed by Cinti (all complete), but is missing the engr. frontisp., engr. portrait, and a total of 5 not numbered leaves at beginning and end. - 1 addition.
