Erste Ausgabe. - Die Kupfer zeigen neben Schiffsdarstellungen meist Landschaften, Stadt- und Gebäudeansichten aus Indien, Ceylon, Indonesien, Batavia, Java, Südafrika, den Kapverdischen Inseln u. v. m.
EINBAND: Halblederband des 19. Jhs. 33 : 39,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 1 (st. 2) gestochenen Titeln und 112 Kupfertafeln (st. 115). - KOLLATION: 10 Bll., 338 (st. 345) S. (Taf. mitpag.), 2 Bll. - ZUSTAND: Fehlen die S. 154-156, 283 und 337-339 mit insgesamt 3 Kupfertafeln. Etwas fleckig, Bindung stellenw. gelockert und Bundsteg leimfleckig, gest. Titel aufgelegt, die letzten 3 Karten verso mit breiten Papierstreifen hinterlegt. Einband mit Gebrauchsspuren, Gelenke eingerissen. - PROVENIENZ: Gest. Titel mit Monogramm-Stempel "I." oder "J. A." und zwei handschriftl. Besitzvermerken des 19. Jhs. - Dänische Privatsammlung.

First edition. Account of the posessions of the Dutch East India Company in Asia and Africa, mainly in India and Indonesia, richly illustrated with views and maps. With 1 engr. title (of 2) and 112 (of 115) engr. plates. 19th cent. half calf. - Lacking 7 pages with 3 copperplates. Somewhat stained, binding partly shaken, with gluestaining to gutter, the engr. title laid down on paper, the last three maps rebacked with broad stripes of paper. Binding with traces use, joints with tears. - Engr. title with monogr. stamp "IA" or "JA" and two 19th cent. manuscript ownership entries. - Danish private collection.
