Dorf in Tessiner Berglandschaft. Orig.-Aquarell über schwacher Bleistift-Zeichnung. Am unteren rechten Blattrand monogrammiert "H" und datiert "31". Rückseitig signiert "H. Hesse" und von anderer Hand bezeichnet "Montagnola". 1931. Auf festem Vélin-Papier. Blatt- und Bildgröße 20,5 : 26,5 cm.

• Im letzten Jahr in der Casa Camuzzi entstanden, danach schuf Hesse nur noch wenige großformatige Aquarelle
Hermann Hesse lebte bis 1931 in der Casa Camuzzi in Montagnola und hielt die Tessiner Landschaft in Tausenden von kleinformatigen Aquarellen fest. Im Sommer 1931 zog er zusammen mit seiner Frau Ninon in ein neues Haus (Casa Rossa) am Rande von Montagnola. Nach diesem Umzug verlor die Malerei an Bedeutung und die Gartenarbeit wurde zur Inspirationsquelle.
Das Aquarell zeigt eine Gruppe von Häusern zwischen verschiedenen Bäumen und Zypressen. Im Vordergrund führt ein Weg ins Bild während eine Bergkette es im Hintergrund abschließt. Die Häuser sind kompakt ineinander verschachtelt, Fenster und Türen wurden weggelassen. Es läßt sich nicht feststellen, welcher Ort es konkret ist, es könnte aber Certenago, ein Ortsteil von Montagnola, sein, in der Nähe der Kirche San Abbondio.
- PROVENIENZ: Beiliegend eine Notiz eines unbekannten Empfängers, daß er das Bild von Don Aquilino Mattei (1914-1995) erhalten hat, der von 1945 bis 1983 als Pfarrer der Kirche San Abbondio für die Dörfer Montagnola und Gentilino zuständig war. Hesse, der aktiv am Gemeindeleben teilnahm, erwarb 1960 eine Grabstätte auf dem Friedhof von San Abbondio, wo er beigesetzt werden wollte. Möglich also daß er oder seine Witwe das Aquarell dem Pfarrer geschenkt haben. Der unbekannte Empfänger verkaufte es später an die Galerie in Parma, deren Geschäftsführer Pianforini Federico die Echtheit 2016 bestätigte. Mit beiliegendem Echtheitszertifikat von Regina Bucher, Direktorin des Hermann Hesse Museums in Montagnola. - Seit 2016 in italienischem Privatbesitz.
