Der italienischer Priester und Architekt Paolo Amato (1634-1714) wurde zum Chefarchitekten der Stadt Palermo, wo er zahlr. Grabmäler, Altäre und festliche Dekorationen schuf. Amato begann bereits 1701 mit seiner Abhandlung zur Perspektive, die 1714 bereits in Palermo gedruckt, allerdings erst 1736 vertrieben wurde (siehe Angaben am Ende der Einleitung). Die schönen, größtenteils vom Autor selbst gestochenen Tafeln, die verschiedene architektonische Details (Brunnen, Obelisken, Treppen) darstellen, zeugen von der großen Meisterschaft des Autors in der Kunst der Perspektive.
EINBAND: Zeitgenössischer Pergamentband mit Leder-Rückenschild. 44 : 27 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit gestochenem Frontispiz-Porträt von A. Bova nach N. Palma und 34 Kupferstichen (num. 1-35) auf 18 Tafeln (1 gefaltet). - KOLLATION: 4 Bll., 86 S. - ZUSTAND: Vereinz. schwach gebräunt, 2 Bll. mit Feuchtigkeit am ob. R., 1 Tafel mit hinterl. Einriß, Titel mit 2 restaurierten Randeinrissen. 1 Außengelenk etw. eingerissen. - PROVENIENZ: Exlibris Marquess von Bute (Luton Library).

Contemp. vellum. 44 : 27 cm. - Here and there slightly browned, 2 leaves with waterstain to upper margin, 1 plate with backed tear, title with 2 restored marginal tears. 1 hinge little cracked on the upper spine.(R)
