Die letzte Ausgabe des populären Kräuterbuches.
Das Kräuterbuch erschien erstmals 1539 und wurde mehrfach verlegt, häufig bei Rihel in Straßburg. "Die Ausgaben seit 1577 wurden von dem Straßburger Arzt Melchior Sebisch revidiert; sie enthalten ein neues Vorwort, fünf Register, und als vierten Teil die 1550 und 1555 von Bock gesondert herausgegebene und später von Tobias Stimmer und Christoph Maurer mit 19 Holzschnitten illustrierte Speisskammer , in der auch die pharmakologischen und diätischen Wirkungen von Nahrungsmitteln verzeichnet werden" (Isphording S. 148).
EINBAND: Schweinslederband der Zeit über Holzdeckeln mit reicher Blind- und Rollenprägung, 2 Messingschließen. 35 : 23 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit gestochenem Titel mit kolorierter Rahmeneinfassung, Holzschnitt-Porträt, Holzschnitt-Wappen und ca. 550 Pflanzenholzschnitten sowie 19 Holzschnitten mit figürlichen Darstellungen zur Speißkammer . - KOLLATION: 25 Bll. (inkl. Kupfertitel), 892 S., 40 Bll.; 94 S., 5 Bll. - ZUSTAND: Durchgehend gebräunt und fleckig. Titelblatt lose (aus einem anderen Exemplar), wasserrandig und angerändert. - PROVENIENZ: Vorderer Innendeckel mit 2 Exlibris; Süddeutsche Privatsammlung.

The final edition of the popular herbal. Bound in contemporary pigskin over wooden boards with rich blind and roller embossing, with two brass clasps. Features an engraved title page with a colored border, a woodcut portrait, a woodcut coat of arms, and approximately 550 woodcut illustrations of plants, as well as 19 woodcuts with figurative depictions related to the pantry. - Throughout, browned and stained. Title page loose (from another copy), with water stains and discoloration.
