Biography
Christian Megert was born in Bern in 1936, he attended the local school of arts and crafts from 1952 to 1956. He initially made monochrome material- and structural pictures, as well as sculptures of iron and synthetic resin. Around 1960 Christian Megert began to integrate mirrors into his works. After sojourns in Stockholm, Berlin and Paris he returned to Bern.
Owed to the acquaintance with Piene, Uecker and Mack he organized the "ZERO" exhibition in Switzerland in 1962. In 1968 he participated in Documenta IV. From 1976 to 2002 he had the professorship for "Integration of Visual Arts and Architecture" at the Düsseldorf art academy. Christian Megert lives and works in Bern and Düsseldorf.
