Luca Carlevaris

1665 Udine
1731 Venedig

The painter, etcher and architect Luca Carlevaris (1665-1731) originally came from Udine, but moved to Venice as early as in 1679 where he stayed in the palace of the aristocratic family Zenobio. Due to the support of this family he was also called Luca da Ca'Zenobio. It is assumed that Carlevaris then was in Rome between 1685 and 1690. The earliest work that can be identified as his is the sequence of views called Le Fabriche e Vedute di Venezia which was published in 1703. Carlevari's greatest artistic contribution was the integration of new technical perspectives into the creative process.
