After he had stayed in Rome for several years, working together with Karl hofer in, among others, the villa of Alfred Wilhelm Strohl, Heuser embarked onto a journey to France in 1912. In Paris he was part of the art scene of the Café du Dôme and came in touch with Friedrich Ahlers-Hestermann, Rudof Levy and Jules Pascin. In Southern France he worked together with Marie Laurencin and Ernesto de Fiori on the peninsula of Cap Ferret, the place of origin of this work, which captures the impression of nature in lucent colors.
