During this period of creation the schematic figural aspect was widened to include the statuesque appeal of the seated woman, which gave it a mystical-abstract aura. Similar to the figurines in the "Triadisches Ballett" (Triadic Ballet), the decisive factor of meaning is not based on individuality but on the pose. The effect that the figures’ aloofness, comparable with portraits of rulers from Italian Mannerism, is a calculated component that Oskar Schlemmer employs as a unique stylistic means in this work.
