2 Orig.-Fotografien aus der Folge Jüdische Köpfe / Araber und Juden, 1931-1932. Vintage Silbergelatineabzüge, verso signiert, numeriert und bezeichnet. 28,9 : 23 cm und 28,8 : 23 cm.
Eindrucksvolle expressionistische Porträts, die stark von der Stummfilmzeit inspiriert sind.
Nach längerem Aufenthalt in den USA, wo er als Schauspieler und Fotograf tätig war, emigrierte Helmar Lerski (1871-1956) 1915 zurück nach Deutschland. Mehr als 10 Jahre arbeitete er als Kameramann und Beleuchter, u. a. für Fritz Langs Metropolis (1925/26) und festigte in dieser Zeit seinen Ruf als Fotograf. In den 1930er Jahren begann er in Palästina mit einer Reihe von Porträts, zu der auch Araber und Juden zählten. Die hieraus stammenden Porträts Kopf eines Tel-Aviver Vagabunden (verso num. 336) und Kopf einer Beduinin (verso num. 407) sind im Kontaktkopierverfahren gefertigt. Hierfür wird eine Glasplatte belichtet und ohne Vergrößerung des Glasnegatives direkt auf das Positivpapier gelegt und belichtet. In seinem Umgang mit Licht, der Inszenierung der Gesichter durch extreme Beleuchtung und Nahaufnahmen, flossen seine gesammelten Erfahrungen als Kameramann ein. - "In jedem Menschen ist alles; die Frage ist nur, worauf das Licht fällt" (Helmar Lerski)
- ZUSTAND: Ränder minimal berieben. Kopf einer Beduinin mit kl. Knickspur in der unteren linken Ecke. Mit schwacher Aussilberung meist in den Randbereichen. Beide Rückseiten etw. fleckig. - PROVENIENZ: Norddeutsche Privatsammlung.

Vintage silver gelatin prints, signed, numbered and inscribed on verso. Edges minimally rubbed. Portrait head of a Bedouin woman with minor crease in the lower left corner. With faint silvering mainly in the margins.

The maximum total of the resale right fee is EUR 12,500.
