Seltene und umfangreiche Ansichtenfolge über die griechische Insel Rhodos.
Die Tafeln meist nach P. J. Witdoeck und Rottiers zeigen Gesamtansichten der Insel aus verschiedenen Himmelsrichtungen, teils mit Hafen, Befestigungsanlagen, Bauten und Denkmälern aus der Antike sowie der Zeit des Malteser Ordens und der türkischen Zeit, darunter den Koloß von Rhodos, Gärten, Ruinen, Stadttore, Fassaden, das Innere von Kirchen, architektonische Details u. a., die kolor. Tafeln u. a. mit einem Fresko der Passion Jesu.
EINBAND: Halblederband d. Zt. mit Deckelschild. 30 : 44 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit Titel, Tafelverzeichnis, 74 (8 kolor.) Tafeln und 1 Karte, sämtlich lithographiert. - ZUSTAND: Stockfl. und gebräunt, 2 Taf. mit Randläsuren im Seitensteg, 1 Taf. mit schmalem Randabschnitt im Seitensteg (ohne Bildverlust), 1 Taf. mit hinterl. Randeinriß, flieg. Vorsätze entfernt, Innengelenk etw. verstärkt. Kanten berieben, Kap. mit kl. Läsuren.
A rare and detailed series of views of the Greek island of Rhodes. Contemporary half calf with title label. 30 x 44 cm. With title, table of plates, 74 (8 colored) plates and 1 map, all lithographed. - Slightly warped and browned, 2 plates with marginal damage in the gutter, 1 plate with a narrow margin cutout in the gutter (without loss of image), 1 plate with a backed marginal tear, flying endpapers removed, inner joint somewhat reinforced. Edges rubbed, spine ends with small blemishes.
