First French edition in octave, an edition in quarto was published the year before, the English first edition in 1798. Important work about Vancouver's circumnavigation and extended travels to the American northwest coast 1790-1795, which produced detailed cartographic material of the coastal region between Alaska and California. With 9 engr. maps (8 folding) and 17 folding engr. plates by Tardieu. 6 volumes in 3. Contemp. cardboard with label on spine. - Only occasionally slightly stained. Bindings rubbed, corners bumped, spines faded. - Inner boards with inscription "Du cabinet de lecture de N. F. Otto à Basle" (early 19th cent.). - Collection Heinrich Frh. von Haerdtl, Vienna (19th cent.) with his stamp on front flying endpaper.
