Erste deutsche Ausgabe der schönen Folge von Sultanporträts.

Zeitgleich erschien eine lateinische Ausgabe. - Die Porträts, gestochen von De Bry nach Vorlagen von Georg Hoefnagel, eingerahmt von phantasievollen Schmuckbordüren. "This beautiful book contains portraits of the Sultans from Osman I to Murad III and also includes portraits of Scanderbeg and his family, Tammas Khuli Khan, Barbarossa, Roxelana the wife of Suleiman the Magnificent, and pashas of the Ottoman Empire (Cairo etc.). The portraits were engraved by Theodore de Bry after drawings by Hoefnagel who apparently took them from medals brought from Constantinople. The portraits are circular within elaborate borders composed of fruits, animals and grotesques within strapwork frame" (Blackmer S. 34f. zur latein. Ausgabe).
