Signed, dated, and inscribed “Siesta.” Signed, dated, and inscribed on the reverse of the plate. From an edition of 40 copies. On Japan paper. 30 x 25.5 cm (11.8 x 10 in). Sheet: 37,8 x 31,8 cm (14,8 x 12,5 in).
Sheet 7 from the portfolio “Gesichter” (Faces). Printed by Franz Hanfstaengel, Munich. Published as the thirteenth print of the Marées Gesellschaft (with blind stamp), by R. Piper & Co., Munich, 1919. [AW].

• Extremely detailed and very complex composition.
• The male figure in the upper center is a self-portrait.
• The male figure on the right (with a mustache) represents the artist's friend Ugi Battenberg (1879–1957).
• Another copy of this work is in the collection of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart
