Erste Ausgabe der im 19 Jahrhundert beliebten Abhandlung über die Reitkunst.
D'Aure (1799-1863) gilt als eine bedeutende Figur in der Entwicklung der Reitkunst. Er wurde an der Ecole de Versailles zum Reitlehrer ausgebildet, später war er Chefausbilder des Cadre Noir von Saumur und ab 1858 Écuyer en chef des französischen Kaisers Napoleon III. Traité d'équitation ist sein erstes großes Werk und wurde im 19. Jahrhundert wegen der großen Nachfrage oft neu aufgelegt.
EINBAND: Leinenband des 19. Jhs. mit goldgepr. Rückentitel und Ganzgoldschnitt. 29 : 23 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 26 (st. 27) Lithographien nach M. Ledieu und zahlreiche Holzschnitt-Vignetten. - KOLLATION: 5 Bll., IV, 146 S., 1 Bl. (Errata), je 1 Titelblatt zu den Tafeln. - ZUSTAND: Fehlt Taf. 1. - Teils braunfleckig. Einband etw. fleckig und berieben. Breitrandiges Exemplar.

Ledieu and numerous woodcut vignettes. 19th century cloth with gilt title on spine and gilt edges. - Table 1 missing. Some brown spots. Binding somewhat stained and rubbed. Wide-margined copy.
