Taschenglobus
A correct globe with the new discoveries Taschenglobus nach Hermann Moll, England, um 1775. Durchmesser ca. 7 cm. Mit 12 kolorierten gestochenen Segmenten und 2 Pol-Kalotten. In Original-Holzkapsel mit Bezug aus Fischhaut und 2 Metallschließen, beide Hälften ausgekleidet mit einer kolorierten gest. Himmelskarte A correct globe with ye new constellations of Dr. Halley & Co . mit Sternbildern.

Taschenglobus eines unbekannten Globenmachers, nach dem Vorbild der Taschengloben des englischen Kartographen und Globenmachers Hermann Moll (um 1654-1732) angefertigt. Verzeichnet die Route von James Cooks erster Weltumsegelung (irrig 1760 datiert). Die Innenseiten der beiden Kapselhälften zeigen eine Himmelskarte mit den Sternzeichen der nördlichen und südlichen Hemisphären.
- ZUSTAND: Der Erdglobus leicht gebräunt mit minim. Fehlstellen an den beiden Polen, aber insgesamt sehr gut erhalten. Die Kapsel mit wenigen reparierten und stellenw. geklebten Rissen, Himmelskarte insgesamt verfärbt und stellenw. (leim-)fleckig. - PROVENIENZ: Norddeutsche Privatsammlung.
Terrestrial globe of 7 cm (=2,8 inch) diameter, by an anonymous globemaker, most likely designed after Hermann Moll's pocket globes, England ca. 1775. Pocket globe with 12 col. engr. segments and 2 polar calottes. In original fish skin case with 2 metal clasps. - With the tracks of Cook's first Pacific voyage, here incorrectly dated "1760". Both halves of the case are laid out on the inside with a celestial chart, showing the zodiacs of the northern and southern hemispheres. - The terrestrial globe slightly tanned and with minim. defects to the pole regions, but overall very well-preserved. The case with few repaired cracks, the chart on the inside tanned and (glue-)stained in places.
