Schöne Kupferfolge zu den Tierfabeln nach Aesop.
Seitenverkehrte Drucke nach den schönen Tierstichen von Markus Gheeraerts, 108 Tafeln wurden erstmals für De Dene's De warachtige fabulender dieren (1567) verwendet (Hollstein VII, 100). Die ersten 53 Kupfer mit handschriftlicher Überschrift und Text in Niederländisch, jeweils rückseitig der vorhergehenden Tafel.
EINBAND: Flexibler Pergamentband mit 2 Schließbändern. 15 : 19,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Gestochener Titel und 123 (st. 125) Kupfertafeln nach M. Gheeraerts. - ZUSTAND: Tls. etw. fleckig, 12 Taf. wasserrandig, Tinte tlw. durchschlagend, Kupfer des Titelblattes ausgeschnitten und montiert. - PROVENIENZ: Mit 3 Besitzstempeln (Vorsätze und 1 Tafel) von Dr. Wilhelm Völksen.
LITERATUR: Landwehr, Dutch emblem books 86 und French emblem books 380.
Beautiful copperplate series of Aesop's Animal Fables. Reverse prints based on the animal engravings. Engr. title and 123 (total 125) copperplates after M. Gheeraerts. Flexible vellum with 2 closures. 15 : 19.5 cm. - Somewhat stained in places, 12 plates waterstained, ink partially shining through, copperplate of the title page cut out and mounted. With 3 owner's stamps on front endpapers and 1 plate.
