Erste Ausgabe des reich illustrierten Werkes über die antiken Bestattungsriten verschiedener Völker.
Verfaßt von dem Humanisten und Kartographen Porcacchi (1530-1585), bekannt für sein 1572 erschienenes Isolario (Buch der Inseln).
EINBAND: Zeitgenössischer Pergamentband mit hs. Rückentitel. Folio. 28 : 21 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit gestochenem Renaissance-Titel und 23 Textkupfern von Girolamo Porro sowie Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Ende. - KOLLATION: 3 Bll., 109 S., 1 Bl. - ZUSTAND: Leicht fleckig (Titel etw. deutlicher). Innengelenke gelockert (ausgebessert), seitliche Einbandkanten tls. mit Bezugsdefekten. - PROVENIENZ: Aus der Sammlung des Schriftstellers Herbert Heckmann (1930-1999).

First edition of this richly illustrated work on the ancient burial rites of various peoples. With engr. title in Renaissance-border, 23 fine engravaings and woodcut printer's device at end. Contemp. vellum with ms. title on spine. - Slight staining (title somewhat stronger), inner hinges loosened (repaired), edges of binding partly with small defective spots.
