Seltener Bildband vom japanischen, in China arbeitenden Fotografen S. Yamamoto, mit Aufnahmen aus den Tagen nach dem Boxeraufstand, darunter Ansichten der Verbotenen Stadt.
Zu Beginn Gruppenbilder der Militärs der Nationen, die sich an der Niederschlagung des Aufstandes beteiligten, darunter Japan, Deutschland, Rußland, Großbritannien, Frankreich und die USA, ferner zerstörte Gebäude, sowie zahlreiche Ansichten von Peking und Umgebung, darunter seltene Bilder der kaiserlichen Palastgebäude in der "Verbotenen Stadt". Mit Bildunterschriften in Englisch und in Japanischen Schriftzeichen. - Innendeckel und Titel mit Stempel des Fotografen "Sanyun & Co, Photographer, Tientsin, China".
EINBAND: Orig.-Leineneinband (Rücken erneuert) mit Deckeltitel Viws [sic] of the North China Affair auf Vorderdeckel, farblithogr. Orig.-Umschlag eingebunden. 27 : 39,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 59 Tafeln mit 115 fotogr. Abbildungen. - KOLLATION: 3 Bll. - ZUSTAND: In den unteren Rändern etw. fingerfleckig, Bildunterschriften vereinz. mit Bleistifteintragungen in Deutsch. Orig.- Umschlag im Bund leimfleckig, Orig.-Einband stellenweise leim- und wasserfleckig, Kanten berieben, die Schließen aus Bein entfernt.
Scarce photobook with views taken by Japanese photographer S. Yamamoto in the aftermath of the Boxer uprising. Amongst othes with rare views of the Imperial palaces of the Forbidden City. With 59 plates with 115 photogr. illustrations with captions in English and Japanese. Orig. cloth with title "Viws [sic] of the North China Affair" printed on front board, lithogr. orig. wrappers printed in colous bound in. - Margins fingerstained in places, front board of wrappers gluestained in the gutter, cloth binding glue- and waterstained, edges rubbed, spine renewed, the clasps made from bone removed.
