Signed, dated, titled, and inscribed “für B. & Sch. München” (for B. & Sch. Munich) in the lower right corner. Signed, dated, titled, and inscribed with technical information on the reverse, as well as twice stamped “Heimatmuseum Schmelz”. 63.5 x 66 cm (25 x 25.9 in). • Dadaism, Constructivism, and Futurism characterize his artwork.
• The artist and his wife were friends with Willi Baumeister, Kurt Schwitters, and László Moholy-Nagy.
• Works by Robert Michel can be found in renowned museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Sprengel Museum in Hanover, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York

PROVENANCE: Artist's studio (probably until at least 1968. Verso stamped “Heimatmuseum of Modern Art,” Schmelz).
Margit Chanin, New York (1968, possibly on loan for an exhibition, verso marked by the artist “July 1968: reframed for Margit Chanin, NY”).

Private collection, Berlin (acquired from the above in 1977).

This lot can be purchased subject to differential or regular taxation, artist‘s resale right compensation is due.

Differential taxation:
Hammer price up to 1,000,000 €: herefrom 34 % premium.
The share of the hammer price exceeding 1,000,000 € is subject to a premium of 29 % and is added to the premium of the share of the hammer price up to 1,000,000 €.
The share of the hammer price exceeding 4,000,000 € is subject to a premium of 22 % and is added to the premium of the share of the hammer price up to 4,000,000 €.

Calculation of artist‘s resale right compensation:

another 3 % of the hammer price from 50,000.01 to 200,000 euros,
another 1 % for the part of the sales proceeds from 200,000.01 to 350,000 euros,
another 0.5 % for the part of the sale proceeds from 350,000.01 to 500,000 euros and
another 0.25 % of the hammer price over 500,000 euros.
The maximum total of the resale right fee is EUR 12,500.

The artist‘s resale right compensation is VAT-exempt.
