• Wilhelm Trübner masterfully combines portraiture with a stately equestrian depiction.
• An impressive portrayal of the Grand Duke in full dress uniform as a symbol of imperial dignity and loyalty to the state of Baden during the Wilhelmine era.
• Its monumental format and psychological presence make this work a special testimony to German portrait art around 1900.
