• Lichtenstein reinterprets German Expressionism in striking pop art aesthetics.
• Just one year after their creation, works from the “Expressionist Woodcuts” series were shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
• Inspired by Robert Rifkind’s collection of German Expressionists in 1978, particularly the expressive lines of Kirchner, Heckel, and Pechstein.
