Each signed twice on the folded canvas and inscribed with the dimensions. Each 120 x 52 cm (47.2 x 20.4 in). [AW].
• Monumental diptych from the series of soap bubble paintings, some of which the master of experimentation worked on over several years.
• Against the dark background, the amorphous forms shimmer in high-contrast, iridescent colors.
• In 2024, he received the Karl Ernst Osthaus Prize, and the major solo exhibition “Venetian Bubbles 2.5” took place at the Museum Osthaus in Hagen.
• Dokoupil’s works are in renowned international collections, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired from the above in 2019).
