• One of the earliest works to demonstrate Lichtenstein’s signature style, which echoes the imagery of comic books.
• 1965: at the height of Lichtenstein’s breakthrough after several successful solo exhibitions at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York.
• For the three volumes of the “11 Pop Artists” portfolio, American and British artists, including Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Jim Dine, each contributed three prints in 1965.
• The works in the portfolios were exhibited in numerous American museums and galleries between 1965 and 1968 as part of the “Pop and Op” exhibition
