Signed in the upper right. Signed, titled, and inscribed ”((gewachst))” on the reverse of the stretcher. A fragment of the title is covered by a label. 65 x 73.5 cm (25.5 x 28.9 in). [CH].
• Exceptionally modern in color, composition, framing, and abstract background design.
• Still lifes play a central role in the artist’s oeuvre.
• In the 1950s, Schmidt-Rottluff’s painting experienced a new bloom, and he entered a new stylistic phase.
• Radiant magnificence: everyday objects are transformed into artistic events through the high-contrast, vivid presentation.
The work is documented in the archive of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation, Berlin.
