From a series of unique pieces made on occassion of the exhibition "Abstrakte Bilder", a traveling exhibition with stops at Museum Ludwig in Cologne and at the Haus der Kunst in Munich. For each of these unique pieces Richter transferred a painting on a glass plate onto a leaf from an architecture book in monotype. [SM].

The over-painting leads to a disguise and an estrangement of the motif. In this case the image carrier for this technique is a book page with architecture images. Richter consciously employs the principle of coincidence in his work. "I don’t have a clear image in mind, in the end I want to create an image I had never planned. Well, this method of arbitrariness, coincidence, idea and destruction makes for some kind of image, but definitely not for one that was intended."
