After 1907 the artist mainly used tempera colors in order to add a drier and duller texture to her pictures. She attained an increased style in terms of forms and colors that corresponded with the visualization of her dreams and desires. The uniquely rendered perspectives echo melancholy, short and flowing brushstrokes in the sky and the piece of land between house and lake create an irresistible depth against which a warm and promising light floods into the scene. It is not coldness and dreariness that dominate the scene, but hope and a new life after the winter is over. Her use of forms and colors goes far beyond that of her Munich artist colleagues in those days. [EH]
