Geiger, who mainly used a paint sprayer in order to attain an even color application in his works made between 1965 and the1990s, also created intensive color spaces characterized by a subtle modulation in the early 1980s. The intense orange-red in this work spreads out in vibrating nuances on the large-size canvas, so that neither the observer nor the surrounding space can elude from the optical surge of the color. Geiger's color-energy fields submerge the surrounding white architecture into a color shimmer and thus liberate the painting from the constraints of two-dimensionality.
