Essay
Between January and May 1932 the Berlin painter and illustrator was on a 143 day trip around the world onboard the luxury cruise ship "Resolute" of the 'Hamburg-Amerika-Linie'. The journey took the artist around the globe over more than 60,000 kilometers, visiting 30 countries on four continents. The shipping company Hapag commissioned him with several works that depict impressions from this journey. In this work the artist rendered a view from the East Asian region.
