Essay
In 1953 Heinz Mack completed his art studies. The characteristic works that we associate Heinz Mack with today were made as of 1956. However, he also made unusual works of pioneering nature during an earlier period of creation. Dieter Honisch wrote in an essay: "The only thing of importance is the question when Mack’s true conception found its way into art history" (quote: D.Honisch, Mack - Skulpturen 1953-1986, Dusseldorf, p.19). The first time that Mack conceived a work on the 'Rotor' theme was in 1953, unfortunately, the work is lost today. This work here takes on this form and makes it palpable for the first time.
