"Initially I follow a strict rhythm, mathematical series that dissolve at a point and lead to a free rhythm.. What I became occupied with in the following was the integration of light, which would set these white structures into motion through the changing light incidence and which could be perceived as a free and articulate light space. I decided in favor of a white zone, as an extreme color, the peak of light and triumph over darkness."
Günther Uecker, 1968, quote from: Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst, p.14.
