Lot description
Shelley, George Ernest
(A monograph of the nectariniidae, or family of sun-birds). Tafelband. (London, Selbstverlag 1876-80).

Die fein gezeichneten Darstellungen von John G. Keulemans, "a most prolific painter" (Sitwell/B. - "An excellent monograph of an interesting family of birds .. A total of 138 species of the group are recognized, of which all but one are figured on excellent, hand-colored plates. Two new genera and ten new species are described" (Zimmer S. 588).

Papierabrieb, insgesamt jedoch schöne, leuchtend kolorierte Tafelsammlung. Einbd. stärker beschabt.

Keulemans, most of them heightened with egg-white, elegantly depicting the small sunbirds with their brightly colored plumage.
