Erste englische Ausgabe des Berichtes, der Pallas' Rußlandreise 1793-1794 entlang der Südwolga zum Kaspischen Meer, Kaukasus und zur Krim beschreibt. Mit schönen Aquatintatafeln mit Landschaften und Trachten in zeitgenössischem Kolorit.
Eine zweite englische Ausgabe erschien 1812. - Pallas' zweite Rußlandreise und zugleich seine letzte größeren Expedition brachte neue naturkundliche, geographische und ethnographische Funde der südrussischen Statthalterschaften oder vertiefte die Kenntnis bereits erforschter Gebiete. - Die schönen Tafeln entstanden nach den Illustrationen der deutschen Erstausgabe 1799-1801. - "An extremely charming color plate book .. It deserves a place in every color plate collection." (Tooley) - Unbeschnittenes, breitrandiges Exemplar.

With 4 doublepage engr. maps and 51 mostly col. aquatint plates (23 folding) as well as a number of col. engr. textvignettes. Bound to style in green half calf bindings with floral gilt decorations. 2 vols. - Untrimmed copy with wide margins. Paper edges slightly dusty and brittle, 2 uncolored folding plates foxed, otherwise inside clean copy with the beautiful and lively costume plates and scenic views. Spines slightly discolored, endpapers renewed.
