Erste englische Ausgabe dieser äußerst interessanten und reichlich verwegenen Theorie der Erdgeschichte. Hier die beiden ersten Teile in einem Band, im Jahr 1690 erschienen dann noch zwei weitere Teile. Das auch in seiner Zeit kontrovers diskutierte Werk teilt die Erdgeschichte in vier Kapitel ein: Entstehung aus dem Chaos - Sintflut - Weltenbrand - Vollendung der Dinge. - Lose beilieg. ein zeitgenössisches Kupferporträt des Autors.
EINBAND: Dunkelbrauner mod. Halblederband mit goldgeprägtem Rückentitel. 32 : 20,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit gestochenem Frontispiz, 2 gefalt. Kupfertafeln und 12 größeren Textkupfern. - KOLLATION: 9 Bll., 327 S. - ZUSTAND: Nur vereinzelt gering fleckig, Frontispiz vo. mit Besitzeintrag von alter Hand (etw. durchschlagend). Gutes Exemplar. - PROVENIENZ: Exemplar aus der Bibliothek des Geologen und Paläontologen Prof. Wolfhart Langer, Bonn.
