Ketterer Kunst Hamburg in new rooms
Hamburg's moving
Kontor
Hamburg, 30 May, 2011 (kk) – After ten years in the Meßberghof, Ketterer Kunst Hamburg has now found its perfect location. Now the Fine Art and the Rare Books departments are perfectly accommodated on 400m².
VOM
As of June 2011 the new address
for Rare Books and Fine Art of the 15th-21st Century in Hamburg:
Ketterer Kunst at Brahms Kontor, Holstenwall 5

The business and auction rooms will be relocated from the former Ballin House to the Brahms Kontor on Holstenwall 5. This address became well known in 1962 when it housed the control rooms where help during the North Sea flood was coordinated. The then secretary of the interior and later chancellor Helmut Schmidt considered this location well, as it is right in the heart of the city.

With the new facility Ketterer Kunst will offer its service in a genuine hanseatic atmosphere as of June 2011. It is just a stone's throw from the bustling downtown hotspots of Gänsemarkt and Jungfernstieg. Built in 1904, the icon of brick architecture between the music hall "Laeiszhalle" and the park compound of "Planten un Blomen" is a prime example of a traditional Hamburg early 20th century office house.

The listed building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The entrée is in Art Déco style, the interior's avant-garde design with illuminated wall tiles and gilt ornaments is in contrast with the historic brick facade.

A futurist complex with light-flooded rooms behind the historic facade invites to spend leisure time in the green courtyard. The attractive auction room still slumbers in a pleasantly calm atmosphere, however, it will soon be filled with excitement and the air will be vibrant with adrenaline when the first auction of Rare Books, Autographs, Manuscripts, Decorative Prints as well as Northern German and Maritime Art will take place in the new rooms in autumn.
