Munich, 13 October 2011, (kk) – As much as necessary, as little as possible: Early diagnosis of damages is more than just an effort to maintain a painting's value. On 25 October, 2011 at 6 p.m. the German conservator Geertje Foth will be explaining how to preserve an artist's authentic creation and to increase the work's value at Ketterer Kunst in Munich.

Geertje Foth, who started a studio for conservation and restoration in Hamburg in 1992, has been managing renowned conversation projects for almost 20 years. In her presentation "Sleeping Pictures – On Awakening Treasures" she will be demonstrating damage diagnosis on paintings from the 19th and 20th century, and will explain how to limit damages by taking early measures or how to avoid them entirely. On the basis of selected works by important artist like Karl Hofer, Lyonel Feininger and Hermann Max Pechstein, she will be showing how restoration can bring back the artist’s original coloring and intended expression.
