With their summer stays at the Moritzburg Lakes the painters of "Brücke" discovered the paradisaical and free life in nature. From 1911 to 1914 they chose the island of Fehmarn for their summers, where girls from the big city became the motif of bathing people. Kirchner made ever new variations of nudes, always in his graphic works' characteristic spontaneous immediacy. The strong strokes on the litho stone were executed with great poise, but the composition keeps the full dynamic and looseness – just as it is the case with our intensive hand-made proof. [JG].
