PROVENANCE: Private collection (acquired from the artist, ever since family-owned).

"The harbor was bustling and [..] the rare view of the huge, rivet- and acid-eaten hulls from the surface of the water was something strange and fantastic. And one of the strangest impressions for me is the huge hull dipping into the water. A huge wall that draws the long ways through the sea far below the surface and that allows the boat to float, I wouldn't believe it if I didn't know better!"
