GW 2609. - Hain/Cop. 1845. - Proctor 7991. - Pellechet 1347. - Claudin I, 396f. - Diese Ausgabe nicht bei Goff, im BMC und in der BSB. - Erste Ausgabe im Oktav-Format. - Ebenso wie der Totentanz war auch die 'Ars moriendi' eines der großen Themen des Spätmittelalters und dementsprechend mit zahlr. Ausgaben in der Inkunabelzeit vertreten. Trotz der vielen Ausgaben sind Exemplare im Handel recht selten. - Vorlieg. Exemplar leider unvollständig, es fehlen die letzten 3 Lagen mit dem zweiten Holzschnitt (Pietà). Sonst sehr schönes, nahezu fleckenfreies Exemplar mit der großen Verlegermarke V von Guy Marchant (Polain, Marques 131 a). - Gekröntes Wappen-Exlibris.First octavo edition of the classical text of the late Middle Ages. Not in Goff and BMC. With large woodcut printer's device on title, 1 (of 2) fullpage woodcut in text and numerous painted initials alternately in red and blue. 24 (of 44) nn. leaves, lacking the last 3 quires, including the final woodcut of a pieta. - 18th cent. red morocco with label on spine, gilt fillet and gilt inside border (boards slightly bowed). - Here and there minor staining, else fine copy. Bookplate with coronet over the initial M.
