Der englische Kupferstecher und Maler F. C. Lewis (1779-1856) war Schüler von J. C. Stadler und war u. a. für das engl. Königshaus tätig. "The Original Drawings from which the following Twenty Plates have been engraved, were brought into this Country from Madrid by Mr. Binda, they than became the property of Mr. Payne Knight, and were by him bequeathed to the British Museum - none of them have been before engraved" (F. C. Lewis). - Unter den Subskribenten die engl. Königin und zahlr. Mitglieder des engl. Adels. - Papierformat 33 : 49 cm. - Taf. tlw. im w. R. schmutzfleckig und mit leichten Knickspuren, 3 Tafeln etw. beschnitten, 1 Taf. im Seitensteg entlang des Bildrandes beschnitten, Titel und 1 Tafel unschön gestempelt.Only edition. Engr. title with vignette in aquatint, 2 engr. indexes of content, 1 engr. index of subscription and 100 aquatint plates from F. C. Lewis after C. Lorrain. Later half calf with mounted lable on front cover. - Plates partly dirtstained in the wihite margin and with small creases, 3 plates cropped, 1 plate cropped close to the image border at the side, title and 1 plate stamped.
